A few dozen teenagers dressed in khaki pants, loose-fitting sweatshirts and slippers sat in folding chairs in an open area where four jail blocks converge.
There's a jittery excitement among some of the boys and girls as the gathering is a change of pace from the monotonous schedule of incarceration. But most of the youths wear hard faces as they await the afternoon's special guest.
Mike Concepcion, one of the founding members of the Crips gang in South-Central Los Angeles, is on a tour through central Oklahoma, and his last stop before catching a flight back to California is the Oklahoma County Juvenile Justice Center.
“Stand up for me if you love your mother,” Concepcion asks moments after appearing before the juvenile offenders.
