Sherwood in 1936 to garner his “Idiot’s Delight” a Pulitzer. But Sherwood’s anti-war tract shows its age in a current Lillian Theater production. Despite provocative scenes, it never creates anxiety for the protagonists under threat of annihilation, nor does it furnish the excitement this multiple-character genre demands.
A hotel in fascist Italy (impressively designed by Kis Knept) provides the background, and as a cocktail pianist sings “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” social manager Don (Craig Barnett) frets about the lack of guests.
His worries are eliminated with the arrival of Harry Van (Henry Olek), an over-the-hill vaudevillian and five stereotypical blondes who round out Harry’s act. Ir
